200 S. Jones, Norman
Last September, a group of local filmmakers sat down to craft a new production: the Cinematic Artists of Norman. As they sat around the table, each member shared what they wanted from such an organization, and the group became a thriving community of artists.
Now, one year later, the Cinematic Artists of Norman are hosting their birthday party beginning at 6 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 30, at Performing Arts Studio, Norman Train Depot, with food provided by Abbey Road Catering and Amy Cakes. Special guest Erinn Gavaghan, executive director of the Norman Arts Council, will welcome guests beginning at 6:15 p.m.
Local band Post Arcadia will provide lively music for guests as they mingle and celebrate. The event is free and open to the public.
A branch of the Norman Arts Council, CAN has provided workshops for the community on various branches of filmmaking, including special effects makeup, acting for the camera, editing, sound and lighting. They also have participated in NAC’s 2
nd Friday of Art and the ONE Party, held last week by Norman Arts Council.
Everyone is invited to attend the party and learn more about the Cinematic Artists of Norman and the Norman Arts Council. For more information, contact Cassie Ketrick at
